Colbert riffs on Keillor!

So, years ago, the announcer on Prairie Home Companion would do a very funny bit on the names of guests on the show that night, e.g. Minnie Pearl. Pearl Bailey, Bailey White, Perry White, Perry Como..and so on, all very rapid fire. I started a string of names thing here just last year...and I caught Colbert doing it on the show this past week, to get from one political name to another. Someone on his show is a PHC fan!

Bill Cusamo of Nicola's in Ann Arbor gave me a copy of The Bear Went Over the Mountain, by Wm. Kotzwinkle, pubbed back in '96. It is a hilarious send-up of publishing that is not to be missed. Yes, a Hemingwayesque bear becomes a media star.

Everyone is buzzing about Elegance of the Hedgehog, a novel from France now in paperback from a small press here. It's all over several bestseller lists and being adopted by reading groups all over. 

my first acquisition

I'm proud as can be that my first acquisition is out today in paperback. It's Captain Freedom, by G Xavier Robillard, and it's a witty and fun romp through our silly culture. The cover has the rave from Christopher Moore!  New developments: Freedom is denying everything, and Comedy Central digs it!
