LOVE this book! 50 writers on 50 states, like Eggers on Illinois. He puts his it in a wonderful light, with humor and bravado, but ultimately, it is a love letter to his home state and its people, and I got all misty-eyed at the end.

I've caught bits and pieces of this show and I almost get hooked every time, but it just seems so relentlessly sad and bitter. It's like a Cheever story on a lot of booze. Kudos to them for creating such a powerful story but I can't do it...yet! I will get the dvd's someday and hole up with a G&T.
