Brideshead revisited revisited

Our friends at Shelf Awareness alerted us to the upcoming movie! I LOVED the book and LOVED the BBC series from back when. One of the few books to be as good on the screen as on the page. I am almost nervous about this movie, but with Emma Thompson and Michael Gambon, it has to be worth a try.

I am amused that the clothing or styles I discarded back as a teen or after college as too nerdy or preppy are now back in vogue: plaid shorts, polo shorts, horn-rimmed glasses, hair down over the forehead. I’m going to dust off my narrow ties! Could really tight shorts be next? Goodness, I hope not.

I must've been having a good summer when the Tommy James & Shondells song was a hit. Every time I hear it out now, including on XM right now, I get the most pleasant endorphin rush to my wee cranium.

I'm nuts for How the States Got Their Shapes! A fun history of war, treaties, Congressional haggling...and CBS Sunday Morning did, too. They just did a wonderful piece on it recently. Check out this serious but delightful book!

The sequel to a surprise bestseller last year, Chosen by a Horse, is just out. Chosen Forever is Susan Richard's story about finding a lover on her book tour! A wonderful true story.
