I have to talk up the best album of the year, from Hoboken's beloved Yo La Tengo. You seem to like older stuff that I generally do, but I think you'd really like it. It's a gloriously overstuffed double album (well, it's on one CD, but it feels like a double album) that swings from piano shuffles to Byrds-like twang to fierce garage rock, with some gorgeous ballads thrown in. It's called "I Am Not Afraid of You, and I Will Beat Your Ass," and it will.
