One of my favorite novels of all time, the first novel published by Sierra Club back when I was a Random House sales rep 25 years ago, is finally going to be a movie!!

This is one of those great American novels we heard tell of and dreamed of penning ourselves when once the craft of fiction writing was quasi-mythological. David James Duncan's ecstasy is palpable on each and every page. It's reassuring to know that others with his same pounding heart for great story telling have ponied up substantial dough to make a movie version of his tale. The River Why is as great as the large and powerful as the idea of this country itself--wilderness, spiritual quests, pursuit of happiness, love, nature preservation, AND fishing--the universal religion. I can't wait to see the movie.
