Janice Harayda

A while back, Publisher Insider led me to Marjorie Hart's lovely memoir, "Summer at Tiffany," an April 2007 release from Morrow.

This an adult trade book, but because it involves two sorority sisters from the University of Iowa who became the first female pages at the Fifth Avenue jewelry store, it is also likely to interest many teenagers.

Specifically, "Summer at Tiffany" is a memoir I'd recommend to parents who are looking for a good book for a teenage girl who has outgrown the Harry Potter series but not a love of reading. In the same category I would also recommend Mindy Schneider's "Not a Happy Camper," an amusing new memoir from Grove about the author's eight weeks at a camp in Maine in the summer of 1974. I say more about both books in "When They're NOT 'Just Wild About Harry'" today on One-Minute Book Reviews Thanks so much for steering me to Hart's warm and affectionate memoir of New York in the summer of V-J Day.
